Ian Schwartz taught himself JavaScript in his 30s, and has never stopped learning since then. He has since worked in several other languages whose paradigms differ wildly from JS, including Rust, Elm, Forth and Python, always bringing his favorite pieces of those languages back to his work in JavaScript / TypeScript.

Ian has always been fascinated by functional programming and the vocabulary it offers for describing data transformations in a sane and testable way.
